I joined the Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova team to help design, realize, implement, and polish the new content added to Galactic Civilizations IV.

My primary responsibility was to help concept and implement new playable races, abilities, and events. As Senior Designer, I frequently had to coordinate with other team members working on mechanics and gameplay issues. I also guided and advised the other designer on the project. Reviewing and giving feedback on other content, such as new sound effects, music, and UI elements, was another responsibility I had on the team.

While I helped with all the new races, I took primary responsibility for the Phalenoid Advance, the Cosmic Contaminant, and The Korath. This involved designing abilities, citizens, star systems, and other core elements to make the new playable races feel unique and fit with existing game mechanics. I took on all the writing for all the new races and for many of the new events, coming up with writing patterns that reflected the differences between all the new races and made them sound distinct.

In addition to my creative contributions, I was also responsible for frequently playing the game to find issues, give feedback, and provide the team with various save games that could save them time on their work.

With so many responsibilities, time management and efficient work became new priorities. Later in the project, I used AI assistance to double-check work and create tools I could use to save time and work efficiently.

I am proud of the finished project and the new playable races I contributed.
